Auntie Jayne's Journey

At a young age I knew that I possessed a special gift when it came to animals. From the first kitten I laid my eyes on, to that little puppy at the local park. I knew in my heart that the future would be grand.

But as I grew up, I started to think about my place in society. Having started to work at part-time jobs at restaurants, and hair and nail salons, here in Utah. I knew that there was more of myself to give, than just a 9 to 5 grind punching a time clock, or working a swing shift.

After moving to the bay area of California, my love for animals, drew me towards the grooming industry, in 1991. It seemed to be the perfect place to learn my craft, from the best in the business. Having such a high demand for excellence, and a no-nonsense clientele, California would set the pace for a life long habit of perfection, when it came to animal grooming.

After spending 16 years in California, life and it's many changes brought me to the east coast, to the great state of New York. That is where the birth of Auntie Jayne's Groomerie originated. Having all the experiences from California, I was ready for the challenge's the Big Apple had in store for me.

My first challenge was working under the same roof as a very experienced, and successful , veterinarian hospital. This in itself was a new learning experience, and brought a whole new light to my responsibilities as an animal groomer.

Keeping a trained eye on abnormal growths, skin conditions and other hidden ailments, only a groomer may see. Being aware of the importance of early detection, I have saved several of my clients pets from unknown cancers, and other life threatening diseases.

Some people may think that an animal groomer is just that, but actually there is a responsibility to be aware of the health for my clients pets. My clients pets are like my own children, and there is a special place in my heart for each and every one of them.

After 10 years of a very successful stay in New York, and 500 clients later, my heart longed to return home to my family here in Utah. After a short visit to Utah in March of 2010, my future fiance Eddie and I packed our belongings, and drove across the country back to my home state.

After our arrival in early July, we started searching for our dream grooming shop. In our travels we met Steve Wright, the owner of High Point Coffee. He was kind enough to introduce Eddie and I, to our present landlord, Al Belt owner of Jordan Square.

The President of the Chamber of Commerce of West Jordan, Craig Dearing, and his staff, worked together with Al Belt, and the City of West Jordan for the approval of the opening of Auntie Jayne's Groomerie, located at 1777 west 7800 south in Jordan Square. We are truly grateful to all that we're involved, our contractors Richard and Dylan Achter, and most of all our family members, who worked many late hours to complete the most beautiful grooming shop ever. In finality, it's my passion that drives me to succeed, and I will not fail!

Yours Truly,
Auntie Jayne
